Swiss Post completed the merger of its two IT subsidiaries, T2i Suisse SA and Dialog Verwaltungs-Data AG, into a single entity called Swiss Post Digital Government on April 1, 2026. The new company brings together approximately 200 employees across four sites: Bern, Sierre (VS), Renens (VD), and Baldegg (LU), according to ICTjournal.
Two Histories, One Convergence
Dialog Verwaltungs-Data, founded in 1980 in Baldegg, specialized in management software for German-speaking Swiss municipalities. Meanwhile, the T2i Group, established in Sierre and Renens, primarily served French-speaking and Valais administrations. Swiss Post acquired majority stakes in both companies between 2021 and 2022, then finalized their complete acquisition in 2024.
Merging under a unified brand was the logical next step. Dieter Lüscher, former CEO of Dialog, now leads Swiss Post Digital Government. According to him, the consolidation aims to “unite forces to better serve municipalities and establish a national positioning” (ICTjournal).
What This Changes for Swiss Public Administrations
The creation of Swiss Post Digital Government marks a turning point in the Swiss public ERP market. Until now, Swiss municipalities faced a fragmented landscape: regional vendors each covering their linguistic zones, without a unifying national platform.
A unified public actor against private vendors. Swiss Post Digital Government aims to develop a cloud ERP platform for cantonal and municipal administrations. For private vendors in this segment (such as SAP, Oracle, or regional ERP specialists), the emergence of a competitor backed by the Swiss Post group changes the game. The competitive advantage is twofold: historical proximity to local authorities and institutional trust associated with a federal agency.
A bridge between linguistic regions. The presence across four sites covering the three main linguistic regions (German-speaking via Bern and Baldegg, French-speaking via Sierre and Renens) is a structural asset. Bilingual municipalities or cantons like Valais, Fribourg, or Bern can theoretically be served by a single contact, whereas they previously had to juggle between multiple suppliers.
No layoffs planned. Swiss Post confirmed that existing client contracts will be maintained and no job cuts are planned. An important signal for client municipalities who feared service disruptions.
What to Watch
The real question is execution. Merging two corporate cultures, two codebases, and two regional client portfolios into a unified cloud platform is a considerable technical and organizational challenge. Swiss administrations, known for their caution in IT migrations, will await concrete proof before switching.
Regarding public tenders, Swiss Post Digital Government’s position as a subsidiary of a federal agency could spark debates about competitive neutrality. Private vendors in the Swiss market will closely monitor access conditions to cantonal public contracts.
