Unit4 Acquires Napta: An ERP for Professional Services That Integrates Skills-Based Resource Management

Unit4 announced on 6 October 2026 the acquisition of Napta, a Paris-based resource management and skills intelligence platform founded in 2018 (TechnologieBox.de, 6 October 2026). Arnaud Caldichoury, co-founder and CEO of Napta, remains in his role. The Napta brand and its open, multi-platform integration model are maintained.

Why Professional Services ERPs Are Chasing a Skills Layer

Consulting firms, IT services companies, audit practices, and engineering firms share a structural problem: their core asset is human, yet most of their ERP platforms do a poor job managing the skills dimension. Matching the right person to the right engagement, measuring the gap between available skill profiles and projected demand, anticipating bench periods — all of this requires a functional layer that general-purpose ERPs have long left to disconnected third-party tools.

Napta addresses that gap directly. Founded in 2018 in Paris, the startup built a platform combining workforce planning, skills management, and capacity allocation, with AI-assisted matching between staff profiles and project opportunities. It claims more than 100 clients across Europe and beyond, active in 70 countries, primarily in consulting, audit, IT services, and engineering (ibid.).

Unit4, for its part, is a next-generation cloud ERP vendor whose ERPx platform targets professional services, public sector, non-profit, and education organisations. With more than 4,700 customers globally, the vendor already offers HCM, FP&A, and PSA modules (ibid.). The blind spot identified by Unit4 CEO Simon Paris: fine-grained, skills-based resource allocation remained a gap in that footprint.

What This Means for CIOs and CHROs at Professional Services Firms

For existing Unit4 customers, the signal is clear: the vendor intends to build a data flow between Napta’s skills and capacity intelligence and ERPx’s project, finance, and HR modules. The stated goal is to enable staffing directly from within the ERP, eliminating silos between project management and HR. In practice, this could mean fewer Excel exports for resource planning, real-time visibility of available capacity by skills profile, and better bench forecasting.

For firms using Napta alongside a different ERP, the decision to maintain Napta’s open integration model is reassuring in the short term. Existing integrations with other ERP and PSA platforms are preserved. The risk to watch: if Unit4 accelerates native integration with ERPx, Napta users on other ERP platforms may see their product roadmap progressively diverge from that of Unit4 customers.

For professional services firms currently evaluating an ERP, this acquisition strengthens Unit4’s case on the consulting and IT services segment. An ERP with native skills management reduces the need for a three-tool architecture — ERP, PSA, and resource management as separate systems. That simplifies contracts, maintenance, and, most importantly, data consistency across layers.

What to Watch Next

The depth of technical integration between Napta and ERPx will be the real test over the next 12 to 18 months. If Unit4 delivers a robust native integration, this acquisition changes the competitive dynamics against Workday and Certinia in the European professional services segment. If the integration stays shallow, Napta will function primarily as a connected add-on — which is already the case today. No integration timeline has been disclosed. No transaction value was announced.
