Monitor ERP Crosses the Billion-SEK Milestone: Sweden's Manufacturing ERP Scales Up

Monitor ERP surpasses SEK 1 billion (€88M) in annual revenue in August 2026. PostgreSQL migration deadline, RECAS PLM partnership, and what this Nordic ERP leader means for industrial SMBs.

Monitor ERP Crosses the Billion-SEK Milestone: Sweden's Manufacturing ERP Scales Up

Monitor ERP crossed the SEK 1 billion annual revenue threshold for the first time in its history in August 2026, according to Distill Intelligence aggregating Verkstadstidningen (14 October 2026). For the Swedish software vendor founded in 1974 in Hudiksvall, this symbolic milestone validates five years of disciplined execution against a target set in 2021: doubling revenues from SEK 500 million to SEK 1 billion.

Background: A Vertical ERP That Bet on Deep Sector Expertise

Monitor ERP occupies a distinctive position in the European ERP landscape. Rather than chasing broad horizontals, the company built its identity on a precise segment: small and mid-sized manufacturers — primarily in machining, metalworking, and industrial equipment. Over 50 years, it became the reference solution for the Swedish verkstad, the country’s workshop and industrial production sector.

Today the company employs around 500 people, serves more than 5,500 customers, and operates across 13 countries (ibid.). Growth has been driven by gradual internationalisation — first into the other Nordic countries, then increasingly into continental Europe.

SEK 1 billion translates to approximately €88 million at current exchange rates — modest by multinational standards, but placing Monitor ERP firmly among the notable mid-market manufacturing ERP vendors in Scandinavia.

What This Means for Industrial SMBs: Three Signals Worth Reading

1. A Database Migration That Affects Active Customers

The most concrete operational signal from this growth period is the migration from SQL Anywhere to PostgreSQL. SQL Anywhere is approaching end-of-life, and Monitor is acting accordingly: version 27.2 (planned for February 2027) will be the last to support the legacy database; from version 27.3, SQL Anywhere support will be permanently dropped (Monitor ERP, technical announcement).

For customers still running SQL Anywhere, Monitor offers the PostgreSQL Assistant to automate the migration. The GoCloud offering includes the migration and PostgreSQL licence at no additional cost until 31 December 2026 — a firm calendar incentive for IT teams in manufacturing environments that have not yet started the evaluation.

This is a sound architectural decision. PostgreSQL is today the benchmark open-source database, with a far richer ecosystem of monitoring and backup tooling than SQL Anywhere. For any CIO or IT director in an industrial SMB, getting ahead of this deadline rather than scrambling at the end of the year is the clear path forward.

2. A PLM Partnership for Manufacturers With Complex Products

Announced in September 2026, the partnership with RECAS introduces an integration between Monitor ERP and RECAS’s PLM capabilities. The goal: establishing a continuous digital thread from product design through production flows, with better traceability and fewer manual handoffs between engineering tools and the ERP (ibid.).

For subcontractors and contract manufacturers working with complex bills of materials or multi-level assemblies, this is a meaningful signal. ERP-PLM integration remains an unsolved problem in many manufacturing SMBs — teams often maintain parallel Excel spreadsheets alongside both systems just to keep data consistent.

3. An Independent Vendor That Stays Independent

Unlike Confirma Software — sold to Main Capital Partners in September 2026 — or other Nordic ERP vendors that have followed the private equity acquisition wave, Monitor ERP remains a privately held, owner-managed business. Jörgen Persson, founder of the owning family, was named Swedish Entrepreneur of the Year in 2024. That independence is a genuine commercial argument for customers concerned about long-term product roadmap continuity and vendor lock-in under PE ownership.

What to Watch

Two developments warrant close monitoring over the coming months. First, the 31 December 2026 deadline for the GoCloud offer and PostgreSQL migration — IT teams that have not yet launched their evaluation risk ending the year under significant time pressure. Second, the operational depth of the RECAS partnership: a PLM-ERP partnership announcement is easy to make, but real value is measured in certified connectors, documented use cases, and the installed base that actually adopts the integration.
